Chad didn't go on this trip to Portugal. Of course I called him every once in a while to tell him how much fun I was having! He makes fun of me because the first thing I said when he answered the phone was "everything we have has to go!" And again when he picked me up at the airport I said let's sell everything ....I have to have one of these horses!. So we are slowly trying to find wonderful homes for all the horses except Kelly and Lindsey(aka Kelly's side kick). They get to retire as wonderful pasture art. Kelly still loves a nice slow trail ride in the winter, but since she currently is missing one eye, does not sweat, and has mild Cushings she will be staying with us. My poor beauty. We never really got to fulfill our partnership, but she and her other set of eyes Lindsey will always have a place. It's an old ladies club.
On a side note, there is something special and loving about their bond. Kelly is kept in a separate smaller area at night and let out in the big pasture each morning. And always waiting patiently at the gate for her is Lindsey. They spend the day together walking, grazing and sometimes running through the pasture with Lindsey always on Kelly's blind side. Considering Lindsey spend most of her life as a PMU mare confined and truly alone, the understanding and compassion she has for Kelly is a lesson we all can learn from.
Here is a picture of love at first ride........I just love this horse!!!
