Here are some pic of Keely

We have had Keely a month when these pics where taken. She was backed before we obatained her for 60 days but we understand that didn't go well. I have restarted her with the Jen method of teachig horses.

If you don't know this, it includes a large amount of treats, kisses, and some teacher stuff. She has been a doll since the second week. She loves people and loves to work for treats. Yesterday I took her out on a long trail ride all over the back roads, creeks, hills, parking lots, back yards and deer trails of Cypress. She is an excellent sure footed trail horse. She is very senisble with new things.

We were plannig on taking her to see Laurie and Jutta in Flordia, but the barn she is at has an out break of strangles. So she has to sit out this trip. Spudik the PMU rescue is going in her place. He's Chad trail horse and our vistor horse.

He is gentle for anyone to ride. He is now the back up dressage star. He was at home romping around with little Cupcake. He's in for a shocker.
We leave tomorrow for our trip. We wiil keep everyone posted on how things are going.

Poor Chad has to stay home and babysit. He does have a new game he is very engrossed in, something with castles? He even has his brother playing it. I think it will last till Fanasty Football rolls around. He has already given me a count down to the draft.

My Dad has sent him 3 or 4 pictures of my Dad wearing the League's Championship shirt. He is determined to take everyone down this year.

Wonderful Weekend with the Girls!!

our wonderful trainer was back in town to kick our butts and teach us the art of Dressage. It was another wonderful clinic hosted by TP Farms (http://www.tpfarm.com/) Linette and Pat are the most gracious hostesses. It was great to watch everyone's ride and how much they are improving. This clinic I rode Avery by Hertog Jan v.d. Paddensteeg again. The last time Jutta had been here Avery had less than 20 rides in her. This clinic she has been under saddle for 3 months. I have done all the training myself. The last clinic Avery was only trotting on light contact. This clinic we worked in all the gaits. On sunday I rode our new RID mare by Pride of Gloster RID. Keely turned four in April of this year. We are just loving her, another huge thanks to Bill Appel(no take backs) for this outstanding mare. Keely had only been under saddle for 1month and she did awesome. She was so well behaved and relaxed. This was her first real outing. I will try and post video of their lessons on youtube. Mike did another great job taking some really lovely pictures of the girls. He is really spoiling us. Sarah and I are looking forward to going to Florida next week to be working students for Jutta and Laurie. We are both giddy as school girls. We can't wait to see all her lovely horses and soak up all that dressage knowledge. We are taking the irsh girls on this trip. Both girls are doing so well it was hard to decide who to take.

We will keep all you updated on our Florida adventures

Memorial Weekend

We had a great time this memorial day weekend with my parents in Bay City. Their house is looking great. The floors were redone, the second floor is finished, and the kitchen looks lovely. On saturday we had a great dinner in Palacios . We walked on the board walk and enjoyed the summer breezes. On Sunday we went fishing . We were in deep with redfish, most were 18 in but we did keep 4 that were the legal 20 inches. Mom pulled in the largest fish at 22 inches. We had a great time relaxing on the boat, seeing the wildlife and talking. The next day went plant hunting and went to a local bird watching park. It was super hot but we saw some lovely birds. I of course came home with some plants. We can't wait to do it again !

Another Great Clinic with Jutta

It was another AWESOME clinic. Jutta saw improvement !!! yahoo !!!! Every time she comes I realize how much I have to learn. She is such a great teacher. She gets riders excited about dressage and pushes everyone to do better. Dominik was on Saturday and he worked hard. Dominik 's Mom was able to come and watch . She was really happy to see his progress. On Sunday I rode Avery. She turns four on May 5. She had less than 20 rides under saddle and was a gem. She worked really hard and tried her heart out. She is by my PMU rescue mare Lindsey and Jan . She is making a super riding horse. On ride number 13 she went on a trail ride and did an awesome job. She has three super easy to ride gaits and I have been riding her around bareback. TP farms was our host again and they were super hostesses. Another big thanks to Sarah for putting this together.

America's Next Top Model has Nothing on Avery

Yesterday,
Cheryl from Owl's Nest Farm ( http://www.owlsnestfarm.com/) graciously invited Avery and Dominik to her photo shoot with famous horse photographer Bob Langrish. http://www.boblangrish.com/index.php
It was surreal to know I had some of Bob's books at the house.
http://www.boblangrish.com/bob%20langrish%20posters.php
I can't wait to see the pictures! I wanted to bring Cupcake but I just thought this might be to much excitement for the little guy. Avery and Dominik acted like Pro's. They even had some pictures taken together. Our friend's Sarah and Mike also brought their two horses. Sarah's mare Savy had a blast!!! I can't ever remember seeing Savy run like that. It was a beautiful day in a beautiful setting, with some even more beautiful horses. It would fun to see our horses in an ad someday. Till then I'm planning on getting a poster for my wall.

Cupcake's First Show

Today is St. Patty's Day, and it was an awesome day !! Cupcake went to his first show and he did great. The show (http://pinoak.org/)was super busy it had hunters/jumpers, Saddlebreds, Rocky Moutain horses and of course Iberian horses. Cupcake only entered one class, Dressage Sport Horse Prospect, Andalusian Colts 3 yrs. & Under. He won first place and he was so well behaved. I showed him myself and I 'm not a fast runner or a good runner but Cupcake was a team player. Our friends Mike and Sarah came out to cheer us on. It was so great to have friends there. Sarah is on the Irish Board and they are sponsoring a jumper class at the show. Chad and I want to sponsor something next year as this looked like alot of fun!! We are showing in another class on Saturday. We will keep everyone posted. A big thank you to Linette at TP Farms. She is a great teacher and I felt really prepared for our class. I feel so blessed to have such lovely and smart colt. I will post pics when we get them

On February 25 ,
Sarah and I attended "Pinot and Picasso"
We had a really good time. I looking forward to doing it again. Wine really brings out my creative side. Sarah took these pictures with her i phone

On March 4
I am proud to announce Avery is becoming a riding horse. It is been a long trip but she is so worth it. She is super smart and calm. Sometimes I have to remind myself she is a baby and to go slow .

Cupcake is Grazing

We are happy to say Cupcake is becoming a Texas horse. He has learned to graze like the big horses. He is starting to lose his heavy winter coat and is enjoying being groomed. He itches everywhere.

We had a busy January , I only took one team to the Mars Rover contest. I had high hopes for this group of girls and they did awsome. They came home with a third place out 70 plus teams.

I'm glad our Mars exploration is over, I'm "spaced out" ! I was so happy to finally have sun on Valentines Day, that we spent part of the day at the barn. The track was dry enough to have some fun with horsey friends. I have been tutoring 2 days a week after school . Those are long days for both the kids and I. I've been getting ready for Jutta visit. Chad has been working hard trying to bring our educational system into the 21st century. IS SPRING BREAK here yet !!

Jutta Clinic Dec.2009

It was another great clinic with Jutta. This time I rode Yvette's young Andie/Tb cross. He is a super talented and very hard working guy. Our friend Sarah, who plans these great educational experiences with Jutta, was laid up with a broken ankle. So I had the chance to ride her super talented mare Savy. It was three really great rides. I'm so excited about Jutta coming back in February. I feel like we make huge jumps in our progress every time she comes. Jutta is not only a talented rider but a truly talented teacher. Sarah's husband who is a professional equine photographer took some great photos during the clinic.

More Pics of Cupcake

Well Cupcake has been home 2 weeks and we just love him! Chad and Cupcake have a special bond. He feeds in the morning before work. They do some make male bonding before work. Our friends Sarah and Mike came over last weekend to meet Cupcake. Mike took some awesome pictures of Cupcake. We had a blast of super cold weather for the gulf coast. We had ice for 4 days. I was fascinated by the 3 in thick ice on the water troughs. Chad was a trooper and brought the horses warm water buckets twice a day. We had the horses bundled up. We were concerned about them but they seemed to enjoy the weather. Kelly who doesn't sweat was acting like a 2 yr old.
